Last week I did a survey and people loved the idea of Thirsty Thursday….This is Memorial Day weekend so let’s do a Memorial Drink.
So here we go. First, and most importantly, let us say a little prayer for our Fallen Heroes, not forgetting why we celebrate this holiday.
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, originated as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868, when the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Union veterans founded in Decatur, Illinois, established it as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the Union war dead with flowers. By the 20th century, competing Union and Confederate holiday traditions, celebrated on different days, had merged, and Memorial Day eventually extended to honor all Americans who died while in the military service. It marks the start of the unofficial summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.
With this being Memorial Day weekend and because it’s going to be in the 90’s here in South Texas I’m thinking something frozen. You know you have to stay cool, just sayin’…
OK, let’s get that blender out and get started. I have a Ninja 1500 Professional Blender but I know there is a blender made just for the avid camper. One is called the Tailgater Blender that plugs into a vehicle’s cigarette lighter and the other is the GSI Blender which you crank. I have not had the pleasure of either of these but have heard good things about them.
